Lightbulb What to do when things go wrong on your cruise

From time to time, you will be on a cruise which for a multitude of different reasons can go wrong.

Sometimes it is unavoidable and other times, you wish you had been told about a problem at time of booking or at a reasonable time prior to paying the final invoice so that you could make an educated decision about continuing the booking or not.

When things do go wrong with your cruise, it is very easy to become frustrated and angry and demand a refund and/or compensation from whoever you feel has let you down.

However, getting angry is likely to make matters alot worse, so try to stay calm and stay rational at all times. This can be very difficult but if you want to be treated reasonably by the company (or companies) that you feel have let you down, then being calm and staying calm is essential.

If you decide to pursue a claim for refund and/or compensation, here are a few bits of advice on how to go about it....

If after reading through the above sections, you still feel strongly that you deserve a refund and/or compensation for a cruise that did not give the experience that you expected or if something went wrong, then you can either handle the complaint yourself, by using the sample letters above and following the instructions given...or you can consult a legal representative that specialises in consumer law to assist you.

Bottom line is that there is never any guarantee of a successful claim, always stay calm no matter what the company (or companies) have done to you or you feel they have done to you...above all else, be patient, this can take a couple of months or so to sort out.

If you paid for your cruise with a credit card, contact them and discuss with them how they might be able to help you with your claim.

Further information about credit card claims can be found here...

Passengers from outside the UK will have similar avenues open to them in the event of a bad experience on a cruise...
